Founder: Abdelghani Toumi

Abdelghani Toumi is the current Head coach for San Diego Mesa college men soccer. He holds a USSF “A” license as well as a National Youth license. Toumi coached at the youth, high school, and college levels. He also served as CSC technical director responsible for player development for many years. Toumi holds a masters degree in physical education. In March 2006, he was invited as guest speaker at the US Youth soccer coaches’ convention in St. Louis to present his masters’ thesis on over-coaching at the youth level.

Known throughout the soccer community as Toumi, he began his soccer playing career in the streets of Morocco. Toumi believes his childhood’s street soccer experience helped him learn and sharpen his technical and tactical skills at an early age. Toumi considers the street game a high necessity for developing game ownership, self image among peers, and self belief and confidence to play under pressure. It is this belief that pushed Toumi to create the Street Sokker Academy.

Toumi thinks that the social forces that helped produce Michael Jordan for basketball, Wayne Gretsky for ice hockey, and Zidane for French soccer must be adopted for youth soccer in our communities and clubs throughout the USA.

Toumi believes that it is his and all youth coaches’ responsibility to bring the street game at an early age to our kids to build up the creative and confident players who aspire to be part of their high school team, college team, and later the national and professional teams.
